Besides controlling internal conditions –such as fulfilling actions within the interactive video– The Giver can also monitor conditions external to the video. What is understood by external conditions are actions made on other URL, such as in the case of having visited a determined web or landing page, filled in a form, downloaded a file, etc.
What is an external condition
One particular case can be checking if a user has achieved an action within a URL contained in an Infinite Content. A Custom Counter can monitor if a user has activated Infinite Content, but is unaware of whether they have interacted with its content. For instance, there may be a PDF download link or a subscription form in an Infinite Content and you may want to determine on the interactive video the success of an action and its award based on whether that file has been downloaded or the user has provided information on the form.
Setting an external condition
In such cases, you will need to set an external action. For that purpose, you will have to set up the destination website by yourself, providing the external condition and the desired parameter of that condition. Then, when configuring The Giver as external condition on the Action submenu –Condition type: External–, a new submenu will be displayed on the Properties panel.
You will have two parameters at disposal on this External condition submenu, the URL containing the condition "Condition URL" and the condition, "Condition", it has to meet to be considered as Success. Any value contained in the URL not matching the value specified in the condition will be considered as Fail.
