Spherical 360º videos have the distinctive characteristic of offering spherical coverage of space, which implies that the canvas or scene on which the elements are displayed is not flat but spatial. A scene on a spherical video can be explored in 360 degrees both horizontally and vertically; so, working with such material requires a special canvas.
PlayFilm’s canvas not only reads 360 videos correctly and “folds” them until forming a sphere. It also includes a tool allowing the exploration through the entire scene. This tool is the Joystick 360, a circular controller enabling the movement through the entire space of the scene. You can also use the four available arrows at the sides of the canvas or click-and-drag with the mouse pointer within the canvas.
To enable such controllers, it is essential that you import a 360 video to your Media library and drag it to the timeline or to the canvas. Once it is in the timeline, when you click on the video, controllers will show up –Joystick 360 next to the lower left corner of the canvas– and you will be ready to use them.
