PlayFilm admits a wide variety of formats and codecs both for audio files and video files. When importing files, the maximum volume of the upload cannot excess 800 MB. The project itself can use more storage but the upload is limited to 800 MB, because it translates into major wait for the upload and therefore, the process becomes vulnerable in case the internet connection fails.
If you want to optimize your time and minimize wait time during the importing process –that is, files upload and subsequent encoding–, we recommend you stick with the following indications:
- Video: mp4 files coded in H264 and a bit rate between 5 and 8 Mbps. Resolution, 1280×720 and a frame rate coinciding with the original video recording -24, 25, 30, 48, 50 or 60 frames per second are the most common parameters. And scanning, progressive (not interlaced). Although 4K is admited for multivideos is not recommended for normal videos because the louding time is considerable bigger which makes the user experience poorer.
- Audio: mp3 files coded in AAC at 48Khz and no more than 128Kbps.
- Media: jpg and png images, zip files containing jpg or png image sequences –as long as the sequence has images with transparent background– and animated graphics of sprite type are admitted as media files.
The aspect ratio can have the aspect ratio the user wish. It can be modified in the process of creating a project or with the project already being edited. The second option is to be avoid because the vídeos is automatically resized to the new resolution but the interactivities and the media elements aren't. The optimal resolution is 1280 x 720 px because of its quality-resolution.
Keep in mind that your projects will be viewed online and the user experience can be affected by the quality of your audience’s Internet connection. Mainly, do your best in restraining videos quality and size, since preload processes could lengthen regarding high-resolution videos. And remember uploads are limited to 500 MB, whether it is one file or more. If you exceed the upload limit you will get a message informing suggesting you to complete the upload in multiple batches.
