An important part of any project's workflow is the copy of a project. You might want to have different languages or versions of the project to compare, or even use it as a box for new resources (template). For each of these purposes, it is necessary to duplicate the project, therefore its properties and resources are also cloned. In order to make it more agile, when duplicating a project, the vídeos are no longer ready for use straight after duplication.
In order to adjust the properties of a vídeo for internet display, when uploaded, processes of transcode start. It is automatic process that prepares the recently uploaded file for work and adjusts its quality for it. When copying a project, these processes are not included in the generation of the new project, therefore, when duplicating has finished, you need to re-transcode your vídeos if you want to use them in this new project. The idea behind this new file approach is to fasten the copy process when the project is used as a template.
How to duplicate
When positioning the cursor of the mouse on a project of the project management Panel the action of Duplicate becomes available (icon two paper sheets). If you click on the duplicate button, a clone of the project is generated, which is automatically located at first place on the projects grid.
The duplicated project is an exact copy of the original, but always in a non-published state, regardless of the state of the original project. A duplicated project has a different identifier and a different URL of linked publication of the original project as well. That is to say from the moment the duplication is generated, both versions of the project become totally independent. Any change made to the copy does not affect the original, and vice versa.
How to transcode a video individually (re-transcode)
When in need of the video assets, they have to be transcoded. The process is the same as when a video fails to be transcoded and a re-transcode is needed. There are two ways to transcode a video provided, a global one and by an individual selection of which is clip is to be transcoded. When a few vídeos are in need to be transcoded, PlayFilm recommends a single transcode process which is the same as the re-transcode one (image below).
How to transcode all the videos in a click (re-transcode all)
When all the videos of the project are needed, there is an available button in the Video Tab to transcode all the available clips in the project. Therefore, all the videos gradually start the transcode processes and when finished, the project is ready for publishing (image below). This options is exclusively available in the Video tab.
