The cover of an Interactive Video serves two major functions:
- It works as a cover of the project in the Projects view, to make it easier finding the project.
- It also works as a cover of the published video, when the autoplay function is disabled ─which, in case of mobile devices is always.
How to customise the cover
By default, PlayFilm selects the first frame of the first clip on Timeline to act as a cover, but you can change it for any other image you want. From the Appearance tab of the project, open the Cover drop-down menu and click on Change cover. Select a new image and save changes. Repeat this process whenever you want to update the cover of your Interactive Video. On the other hand, when a project doesn't have an autoplay display, a full-screen transparent button Interactive Video is automatically added over the cover image. When this CTI or Play button is clicked, the loading progress of the projects starts followed by the interactive video experience.
CHANGE CTI: By default the video display has the Autoplay option disabled. When Autoplay enabled it is exclusively for desktop devices, on cell phones the cover is still shown. Clicking this button starts the project playback. By default the button for that is Play "Interactive Video", but you can select one which might fit better the needs of your project.
The Click to Interaction button or CTI is a clickable full-screen button, so the image to upload needs to have the same resolution or size as the project's one, even if the button is very small one. It also has to be a transparent PNG file which does no exceed the size of 50 kB. Uploading your image is as easy as clicking on the CHANGE CTI button and select the image to upload from your computer. When imported, automatically click the Save button just below the preview player option.
CHANGE COVER: It is the CTI background. It can be either a JPG image or MP4 video. Both files have the same restriction, they can't exceed the size of 3 MB. The videos are played in loop with no sound and the cover image is animated (Zoom in and out) by default. When the autoplay option is disactivated, this screen is played in loop until the user clicks or tabs the screen.
The interactive vídeo embed in Autoplay will not display cover, the automatically initiate the loading process of the video. On the other hand, smartphones do not have an autoplay option, even if you have set it in your interactive video. Therefore, a cover is always shown in cell phones.
The default cover option is the first frame of your first clip. Pick up a cover which fits better your needs by clicking on CHANGE COVER and an import pop up will be open, where you can select a file straight from your computer.
The cover image is animated (Zoom in and out) by default but when necessary, the animation can be de-activated by selecting None from the drop-down from the Animation Type menu.
